The Albatross Musical Theatre Company (AMTC) is a volunteer-driven, community-based, not-for-profit theatre group proudly serving the Shoalhaven region since 1975. Our mission – bring high-quality musical theatre to the community, creating performances showcasing the power of teamwork, respect, collaboration, and inclusivity. AMTC is led by an elected committee of members, who ensure our productions remain true to the health and wellbeing of the company. AMTC receives no government funding and is entirely reliant on ticket sales, donations and fundraising.
AMTC is run by a diverse group of volunteers—including directors, producers, singers, dancers, designers, photographers, stage managers, musicians, technicians, carpenters, and riggers—each contributing their unique talents and ideas to our productions, while mentoring the next generation in the process. We strive for shows that appeal to the company and the local community
Each year, AMTC puts on several productions involving performers of all ages and also runs a vibrant junior program known as Junior Albatross Musicals (JAM). This free program provides children aged 10 to 15 the opportunity to be part of a high-quality musical production, culminating in a performance at a professional venue. JAM is open to children of all abilities and is supported by financially by AMTC with a consistent volunteer production team who have a love and passion for teaching and empowering young people in musical theatre.
AMTC and JAM welcome participants with disabilities, neurodiversity and mental health struggle. Carers and support workers are encouraged and included in rehearsals to assist with any additional support they may need, ensuring an inclusive experience for everyone. We offer performance opportunities for all skill levels, providing a safe and structured environment where individuals can explore and expand their creative potential. With each production, we strive to push boundaries while honouring the values that have guided us since our founding
AMTC and JAM’s productions have earned multiple accolades at the Combined Area Theatre Awards (CAT Awards).
